PLACE TO CHILL OUT – Castle Cafe
Salted pistachio ice-cream and any of the sorbet is a must!
Located directly next to the church, at the foot of Szigliget’s castle at the lake Balaton, Várkávézó (Castle Café) aims to promote classic, natural flavors. Many think their delectable icy treats are worth taking a detour for. They don’t overcomplicate their ice creams, which are made with fresh fruit (two kilograms for four kilograms of fruit ice cream), real cream and vegetable fat. Their fresh, gluten-free ice creams are also free of preservatives and colorings, and they hold in the fridge for three days. The pistachio and hazelnut flavors are good indicators of the overall quality, even for the strictest ice cream critics: ingredients for the former come from Sicily, and for the latter from Piedmont.
